Student Trustee

Be a part of Indiana University history

The Board of Trustees of Indiana University encourages full-time students to apply to serve as student trustee. This position is a one-of-a-kind opportunity that allows a student to work closely with IU leadership to shape the university’s future. Former student trustees have gone on to careers in medicine, law, business, and higher education.

The IU student trustee is a fully vested member of the board, with the same rights, responsibilities, and privileges accorded to all IU trustees. The student trustee is expected to participate in the six annual meetings in the year, serve on board committees, take part in various university functions and ceremonies, and complete assigned projects. The student trustee also works with the All University Student Association.

According to state law, Indiana’s governor appoints the student trustee. Student trustees serve one year, while the other trustees serve three years.
