Steve Henke is a lifelong Hoosier whose career has been dedicated to strengthening Indiana through entrepreneurial leadership, community development, and public service. He earned a B.S. in Business from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and a J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law–Indianapolis. Steve and Henke Development have developed numerous master-planned communities throughout Central Indiana, including The Bridgewater Club, The Club at Chatham Hills, Holliday Farms, Promontory, Bradley Ridge, and communities in Zionsville, Noblesville, Lebanon, and surrounding areas. Collectively, these communities and projects represent more than $3.5 billion in assessed value.
Indiana University has remained central to Steve’s life and leadership. He has served as President of the IU Varsity Club National Board and as a member of the Indiana University Foundation Board, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of IU Inc. As an IU Trustee, he serves as Chair of the Finance and Facilities Committee and also serves on the Academic and Student Affairs, Executive, and Compensation committees. His decades of volunteer service reflect a deep commitment to advancing Indiana University’s mission and strengthening the State of Indiana.
The Henke family’s connection to IU spans generations, with his wife, Kathy, being an IU graduate, his daughter, Betsy Garfield, and son Bradley, both being IU Kelley School of Business graduates, with Betsy being a former student body president, and Bradley lettering in baseball, and both children’s spouses being IU graduates. Raised in Holland, Indiana, in Dubois County, Steve grew up working in his family’s business, Holland Dairy, and remains actively involved in his hometown through community initiatives and the Holland Kiwanis Club. He has also coached youth sports, served as President of the Carmel Dad’s Club, and enjoys deep-sea fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
