Trustees by Academic Year

Two-hundred and twenty-three trustees have served Indiana University since the earliest members met in Bloomington in 1820 to choose an "eligible and convenient site for the State Seminary," the first incarnation of IU. Trustees have represented 57 of Indiana's 92 counties. In 1924 Nellie Showers Teter became the first woman on the board; the body has included a full-time student since 1975.
